75 years – Our stories, our employees (Part 1)

Meet the people who make our visions real!

When I started my training as a tile, slab and mosaic layer at Fliesen Schmale GmbH in Lüdenscheid in 1995, I encountered ARDEX from day one. Materials such as the ARDEX K 15 leveling compound, the then revolutionary X7G thin-bed mortar and the FB9 fluid-bed adhesive were used on a daily basis. Whether substrate, waterproofing, tile or joint - ARDEX was always there.

Almost 30 years later, I can now proudly represent ARDEX in the field. No two days are the same, every day brings new exciting construction sites, challenges and training for the excellent users of our products.

Let's stay innovative - BUILDING TOMORROW.

Gabriele Winkelmann

75 years of ARDEX - and I have been able to part of an impressive 36 years of this. I started my career in order processing, where customer orders were recorded and then sent to dispatch by pneumatic tube.

In 1993, I switched to accounting - a job that deepened my connection to ARDEX even further. I came into contact with almost all areas of the company and many colleagues. The construction of Plant II was particularly formative: every invoice conveyed a piece of the construction project, so you could experience it almost first-hand.

At the same time, I completed further training with a focus on personnel and training. In 1995, I was offered the chance to switch to HR management - an opportunity that I seized and that still shapes my everyday working life today. For me, above all, it is the people who make ARDEX what it is: their individuality, creativity and sometimes their mystery. They always provide exciting new challenges.

In 1996, I took over responsibility for the development of training at ARDEX. Since then, I have been able to accompany numerous young people on their way into their professional careers - a task that is still of particular importance to me today. I am especially pleased that many former apprentices have remained loyal to the company and are now part of the ARDEX success story themselves.

Whether colleagues in the HR department or in other areas around the world, they are the ones who keep reigniting my creativity and passion. They are the main reason why I have been part of ARDEX for so long with such joy and commitment.

I have been working in inside sales at ARDEX since 1986 and, looking back, I am always amazed at the impressive technical developments in everyday office life. The story begins like many others: “Do you remember when...?”

Back then, we still took customer orders on paper forms and typed them on a mechanical typewriter. Step by step, more and more powerful devices were introduced: from the electric typewriter to models with a correction display and the first screen typewriter - the forerunner of the computer. Finally came computers with programs such as Word, which enabled circulars with address memories, as well as comprehensive ERP systems such as SAP and EWM, which fundamentally changed our warehouse and production management.

Today, we use digital translation programs to save time, and paper dictionaries are increasingly becoming a thing of the past. Artificial intelligence has long been on the rise. If someone had told me 38 years ago where this journey would lead, I would have thought it impossible and referred to it as science fiction.

It has been an exciting journey through the increasingly modern and digital ARDEX world - and the journey is far from over...

And that's just the beginning - stay tuned for more inspiring employee stories in Part 2!

Thank you to all of our employees - for 75 years of dedication, passion and shared success.
